Michael Garton MSc graduated with a BSc in Geology from the University of Hull and an MSc in Structural Geology and Rock Mechanics from Imperial College (University of London). He is believed to have been a school teacher (in science) for around 20 years before doing a PhD in Geology at Liverpool University around the start of this decade. (See http://www.pcweb.liv.ac.uk/earth/Staff/postgrad.htm#Garton)
He has written for AIG's "technical" journal so is presumably a hard-line YECer. How this squares with his PhD thesis on Cambrian strata and environment is beyond our comprehension.
